Neil boxes clever for cancer charity

A big-hearted Doncaster man who helps people beat their drug and alcohol addiction is to step into the boxing ring in aid of Cancer Research UK on Saturday 14 November.

Psychosocial Interventions Practitioner Neil Firbank, who works for Doncaster Drug and Alcohol Services, is currently undergoing an intensive eight-week training regime for the Ultra White Collar Boxing event at the Keepmoat Stadium, while raising funds for the cancer charity.

Neil said: “These events take place all over the UK, and have already raised over £2m.

“They give people like me, with no boxing experience, the opportunity to train with ex-professional boxers and trainers to develop the right levels of fitness and techniques required in the ring.

“We all wear head gear and gloves, so we can experience the sport in a safe and enjoyable environment – while raising money for a very worthwhile cause.”

Anyone wishing to support Neil can make a donation by texting FIRB77, followed by the amount they would like to donate and send it to 70070; alternatively they can go to his Just Giving page at: https://www.justigiving.com/Neil-Firbank

Organisations can also contribute to Neil’s fundraising. For £50 he will have company logos printed and displayed on his vest on the night. Anyone interested can ring Neil on (01302) 571240.
