New Beginnings joins the Great Get Together

A Doncaster service that supports the recovery and wellbeing of people with drug and alcohol issues is joining the national Great Get Together to celebrate community kindness and respect on June 20.

New Beginnings which provides a specialist rehabilitation and detox service is run in partnership with Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust and registered charity The Alcohol & Drug Service (ADS).

The team at New Beginnings is inviting local people to come along to their Afternoon Tea on Marshall Avenue in Balby between 1pm and 3pm and join in their community get together and tours of the services and projects it provides.

Neil Firbank, Senior Day Programme Lead at New Beginnings, said: “We wanted to do something positive to bring the community together to celebrate everything that we have in common. I hope that local people will take this opportunity to join us in an afternoon of music and conversation.”

The Great Get Together is held between June 21- 23 and is inspired by the late Jo Cox MP and encourages communities across the country to get together.

Tim Young, Chief Executive of The Alcohol & Drug Service, said: “Bringing people together and making connections is something to be cherished and a great benefit both for individuals and the community as a whole.”

The Great Get Together was formed in 2017 by the family and friends of Jo Cox by the More in Common in partnership with more than 100 organisations. The event is now a project of The Jo Cox Foundation.
