Recovery Academy goes from strength to strength

Over 60 people from within the drug and alcohol recovery service, education and partner organisations came together for second Recovery Academy.

Hosted at the Northern College in Barnsley on April 24, the event focused on ‘wellbeing’. Guest speakers provided interactive lectures on the five ways to wellbeing, strength based approaches, mapping of social groups, mindfulness and the vital role of peer support and volunteering.

The Recovery Academy is a unique training and learning platform specifically designed for people working and volunteering in the drug and alcohol service. It provides a mix of experts from Universities, recovery workers and also those with lived experience of addiction.

Speakers attended from Spectrum; Aspire Drug and Alcohol Service, the University of Sheffield and Building in Belief.
